Maxine Johnson

R. Maxine Johnson, 92 of Greeley, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 13, 2013.

Maxine was born on June 9, 1920 in Windsor, Colorado to Otto and Anna (Erickson) Johnson. She graduated from Windsor High School and later, during WWII earned her emergency teaching certificate from the State Normal School, now UNC. On June 30, 1942 she married Ruben F. Johnson in Long Beach, California.

Mrs. Johnson was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for most of her life. Until her health failed she was very active in her church, particularly in various roles with women's ministry. Her participation in prayer ministry was especially meaningful to her.

Her family treasured her prayers, thoughtful remembrances and she delighted all with her baked specialties.

Survivors include her daughter, Ruth Wallman and husband Delyle of Estes Park, Colorado; 2 grandsons and their wives, Erick and Jicks Wallman of Hawaii and Aaron and Jennifer Wallman of Kansas; 5 great grandchildren, John, Anna, Jacob, Toby and Isaac Wallman; a brother and his wife, Dean and Marie Johnson of Ft. Collins and a sister in law and lifelong friend, Georgia Johnson of Windsor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Johnson; a son, Stanley Johnson; her parents, Otto and Anna Johnson and a brother, Norman Johnson.

A memorial service to celebrate Maxine’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1865 14th Avenue in Greeley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran Church Elevator Fund or to Harden Hospice. They can be sent in care of Moser Funeral Service, 3501 S. 11th Avenue, Evans, Colorado 80620.
